Short abstract: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38784653/Full study: www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fvets.2024.1383291/fullSome highlights: - It's a mouse study where they looked at the drug artesunate to treat babesia (keep in mind that this is not the same as artemisinin/artemisia but it's a derivative of that). - Artesunate significantly reduced the amount of babesia in the mice's blood and the effect was stronger at higher doses. - It also helped restore normal function to their liver and spleen. Where it reduced inflammation and damage in the mice's livers. This is huge because artemisia (the herb) is known to cause liver issues. - And it also affected the activity of proteins involved in cell death and inflammation in the liver, with higher doses leading to decreased levels of proteins that promote cell death (and increased levels of proteins that reduce inflammation). Take care!
