Thank you for the update!
Sounds like you're figuring it all out, that's really great! And I'm glad your mom is still taking the Alinia at lower doses. It's a helpful drug.
I wonder also, since it's three hours after taking Alinia and the symptoms appear gut related.. What if the other antibiotics, or maybe Alinia itself, changed your mom's microbiome to the point of not tolerating it any longer? Do you think that could be possible? I wonder if an extra probiotic would help her. Or a probiotic simultaneously with Alinia.
Another thing to maybe consider is to try and put the Alinia in those enteric capsule (I believe that's what they're called). The capsules that don't open up until they're further along in your gut, preventing nausea etc. You can buy the empty ones online, they're pretty cheap.

Hey Country, do you have any updates? I hope that it's going well! 🙂 Mom has been using the very low dose Alinia, keeping the dose about the same as noted in above post. She sometimes skips a day and has taken Mastic Gum a couple times. Mastic Gum is interesting as it gives her some relief at times and at other times doesn't relieve her. But we're definitely seeing herxing and some positive signs from the Alinia. It's not always easy, but she's not having those terribly severe reactions now. She's only doing 1x day on the days she takes it. Thanks! |

That's super interesting about Mastic Gum! I'm glad that it helps sometimes! And yes that's smart to just do it once a day on the days that your mom takes it. I hope it continues to help!

Update on Mom's labs while taking Alinia.
- Kidney numbers improved after starting Alinia and have continued to do better
- Liver enzymes went high after starting Alinia but are now down in normal range close to what they were before starting Alinia. Of course, she's not taking higher doses of Alinia now so it remains to be seen if enzymes will rise if she's able to get to higher dose
- Blood glucose improved (dropped) after starting Alinia and continues to do better.

So it looks like basically everything went back to normal. That's really great! Also very cool how the kidney numbers improved and then stayed that way.

Mom continued on the low dose Alinia and tolerated it fine. There were some lab #s changing somewhat or staying higher, so we decided to take a break from Alinia and do Tinidazole and Tetracycline for awhile. She herxed on those and I think is now ready to take some Alinia again. We could end up rotating betweeen the Alinia and Tetra/Tinidazole.
Her liver enzymes were still in range but a couple other #s were higher and her triglycerides were high which was abnormal and stayed high for two checks perhaps indicating inflammation. Just thought it might be good idea to switch to the Lyme abx for a time.
